Wood Floor Grades

There are 3 grades of wood floor. Those wood floor grades are:
  • 1st grade wood floor, almost clear and free of knots and color variation
  • 2nd grade wood floor, provides a varied and natural appearance. It's the most common selection of wood floor.
  • 3rd grade wood floor, is the most rustic looking wood floor and has the most knots and imperfections.

For an interesting looking wood floor, various widths are chosen and laid in a repeating sequence.
The common wood floor widths are:
  • 3/4" thick, 2 1/4" wide wood floor with varied lengths (most commonly chosen wood floor type)
  • 3/4" thick,3 1/4" wide wood floor, varied lengths
  • 3/4" thick, 4, 5, 7 and 8" wide wood floor
